Pitch Perfect2 made $27M and Mad Max made only $16M on Friday. Wonder if the people who fund films will notice?

I do not want to see bad popular movies by MEN or WOMEN period. That\’s the point I\’m trying to make. I have no issue with female-centric movies and never have.
If the ladies want a place in Hollywood and want a shot at the brass ring, you are more than welcome to it All I ask is some good movies with some effort put into it and it doesn\’t matter who it comes from and if Pitch Perfect 2 were directed by a man, it would still be a bad movie.
And to call me insecure and needs to grow a pair is uneccessary and uncalled for just because I had an opinion and tried to present it in a fair and rational fashion.
But I guess we can all agree to disagree.

But we\’ve been watching bad popular movies made by and starring men forever. It\’s only fair to give women a chance. Maybe they can turn out good and popular films, some even about women. Whatever, it\’s been a boys club for far too long. We\’re only having this discussion because Pitch Perfect is a female-centric set of films. If a man had directed the sequel, it wouldn\’t even be a discussion. You insecure men need to grow a pair.

No confusion here. You just said that Pitch Perfect was not a good movie yet you justify it because it is popular. I don\’t popular movies on the screen. I want good movies on the screen.
A lot of mainstream movies may be mostly comic book franchises but do not act like women are exempt from above making crappy movies and it is arrogant and delusional to believe otherwise. Maleficent was popular and made millions but that movie was absolutely awful.
You say women make movies that make money but those movies can be terrible and the last thing I want to deal with is terrible movies on the screen.
Concentrate and put some effort on putting some good products on the screen and stop making excuses for bad movies and lazy filmmaking just because they\’re made by women and make money as you say. The last thing I want studios doing is churning out even more crap for an quick and easy buck.

lol, no. Who said it was a good movie? You\’re confusing "good" with "popular." They\’re not the same at all. Pitch Perfect wasn\’t a good movie, it was a popular movie. It has a winning formula and PP2 does, too. Mainstream movies suck nowadays because most of them are comic book franchises and appeal to immature men. Women make movies that make money. Studios will learn this.

Just because a movie has the same ingredients as the first one does not make it a good movie.
Keep in mind bad movies make money too and for you to justify bad filmmaking just because it is made by women or led and has a "winning" formula, you are part of the problem why mainstream movies suck these days and that is inexcusable.

This film has the same mix of ingredients the first one did, and as such, will be popular with the same group. It doesn\’t matter that the measurement of those ingredients is different. Women went to see the first film and they will go see this one, because they like Anna Kendrick, they like the music and they love the overall theme of women uniting to overcome whatever is trying to hold them down. It\’s a winning formula and I\’m thrilled Elizabeth Banks got a chance to direct. Women make films that make money. One day the executives will learn this, or maybe, one day the executives will be women.

I knew Elizabeth Banks didn\’t have it in her. You can see from her comedic performances that she can follow a gag or joke that someone else started, but she can provide nothing original or interesting on her own.
