My daughter, now 10, is looking forward to this more than Monsters U., but we are probably going to see both this weekend.

What made the first movie "work" for me was the combination of the bonkers comedy/jokes and the heart-warming stuff with Gru and the kids. It wasn't a new classic movie or anything, but set itself above dreck like Madacascar and the Ice Age movies.

However, I suspected that any sequel would totally miss the mark on why the first movie was good…and just say "People like Minions, we'll give them more minions." I'm just sort of glad to hear they don't overwhelm the movie. I guess they are saving that for the "Minions" movie coming out next year. The trailers however have been pleasant enough and don't make me dread the idea of going to see it. (Dread = TURBO)

Suffice it to say – my expectations are and remain low…this review seems to do a bit to alleviate concerns, but I will just have to find out come Sunday.
