Some friends and I saw Daydream Nation last night at the Sunset 5 in LA, and I just couldn\’t disagree with this review more. The movie was funny, odd, occasionally sweet, and kind of romantic (we all left with crushes on Reece Thompson). I think this review misses the satirical elements. But more than that, it misses the fact that the movie was unpredictable and fun.
By the way, I hate Sonic Youth. I think they\’re the most over-rated band of that period, and now they\’re just a joke. So yeah, take what I say with a grain of salt.

I saw this movie at a festival in January and thought it was great. Not perfect, but waaaay better than this review would have you believe. Kat Dennings was awesome, the kid playing Thurston was charming, and it was a very dark, funny, strange story. Definitely a little too all over the place, but most of it worked. This review is just a snarkfest. I loved the music, but there was NOT any Broken Social Scene. I detect a movie trying to be hip, and a reviewer trying to be hipper — both of you just chill!

The ultra-gorgeous Kat Dennings should not appear in movies unless she is the female lead or the main love interest. She shouldn’t have been in Thor at all.

It is unfortunate that Daydream Nation is only being released in select cities and that we won’t find out how they would have done commercially if released nationwide. It has an interesting cast.
It would have been interesting to see how a smaller films for the leads would do commercially.

This sounds like a totally righteous review; this movie looks like pure ipecac.

I remember when you guys posted the trailer for this and communicated your distaste for it, like any sane human being would, and the backlash from people with lame taste in movies was hilarious. I\’m bookmarking this to look at more those comments as the day wears on.
