Found "Map…" extremely disappointing - very well acted (since Woods in Videodrome Cronenberg has been able to get great performances from his stars) but (like Cosmopolis) too easy and obvious satire and some crass staging (with truly atrocious CGI flames that destroy big moment). Thought "History of Violence" and "Eastern Promises" were actually a refreshing dip into new waters for him, albeit far removed from his trademark \'horror of the body\' cinema.

While I enjoyed the review and look forward to the film, I think Cronenberg\'s recent films have been misrepresented. Yes, Cosmopolis was pretty divisive, but \'A Dangerous Method\' was number one of 2011 on a handful of critics\' films, Spider was also in the year it was released. Eastern Promises was very well reviewed and A History of Violence is not only considered by some to be his best film, but it made it into the top 10 of the decade lists of a number of prominent critics. If anything, one could argue that many of Cronenberg\'s best films have been released since the turn of the century (along with Videodrome, Dead Ringers, The Fly and Crash).
