					<description><![CDATA[Your title suggests a failure on the film&#x27;s side. I think, however, that Blacanieves, more than aiming at transcending silent film, is simply rendering tribute - and it does a wonderful job. 
Limiting the medium necessarily forces an artist to make stronger use of its tools. In this case, Blancanieves&#x27;s expressive photography is delightful in its own, the narrative never feels &#034;handicapped&#034;  as one focuses on the acting, use of light, framing, and camera work. 
On a last note, I would disagree with you on the use of music. Congruent with the cultural recontextualization,  Berger&#x27;s use of music seems appropriate... I find it odd you praise the bullfighting and coin the music as chintzy.]]></description>
