It took about 5 seconds to google this information. Please do better fact checking before condemning filmmakers for condemning a "made up" religion.

Also, it appears this branch has some similar beliefs to other oddball fundamental branches of Christianity, so, even if it was made up, the points the film makes about these small, cult-like religions would be perfectly valid.
