I have always believed that government should by and large stay out of culture. I understand the need or the desire to protect certain institutions or pieces, but there are certainly no shortage of private sector individuals, some of whom have deep pockets even in this recession, who have the ability to do so themselves. Looks like a fascinating documentary. I have my own opinions on art work - I had huge arguments with my professor over at Marquette University in his philosophy of art course - but politically speaking I argue that for the most part, government needs to keep its hands off.
