The Two Jews On Film absolutely loved this film. We found it compelling and full of really interesting twists and turns. The cast, especially Ryan Gosling were excellent. It held our attention even after we left the theater. We gave this film a very high bagel rating. I read Matt Birkbeck\’s very thorough and engrossing book \”A Deadly Secret\” so I was familiar with the Durst story, but this film version just never got going. While the book took us behind the scenes of the police investigations and read like a well scripted Law and Order episode, the film never delves into what makes Marks, a.k.a. Durst, tick. It was very one dimensional and disappointing.

I agree that from Philip Baker Hall\’s scenes and on, the film had a lot of trouble. I thought that the relationship with Gosling and Dunst was quite good, however. I was truly interested the entire way through. It\’s not a perfect film, but I thought the first half was good. The performances is what makes the film worthwhile.
