Good to see Tyler Perry moving out to the box and ignoring the so called critics. I think every one is expecting Alex Cross to be some white blue eyed muscle bound guy. If that is the case it's very sad. The critics criticized the think like a man movie too. You will think that a black director can't catch a break. Anyway, who cares what people think. I wish this movie much success. I wish the actors who seem to forgotten who were given a chance in this movie much success.

*sigh* None of these Alex Cross movies seem to realize just what makes the books so good: The character of Alex Cross. Sure, I want a good thriller, but it just seems a cheap imitation of the character I have loved for more than 10 years.

After I saw that Tyler Perry was going to be in this movie I was hoping it would turn out great. The reviews seem to be overwhelmingly negative though. Some of my officemates at DISH are still going to see Alex Cross this weekend, but I think Iâm going to wait on this one. I do want to see how Perry did in this role so I put the movie in my Blockbuster @Home queue. That way it will be mailed to me when itâs released on DVD, and I can just send it back when Iâm done. Iâm a fan of Tyler Perry, but from what Iâve read this looks like a rental at best. I hope itâs at least entertaining enough for a rainy day.

1) when perry was first announced, i heard LOTS of sturm and drang anticipating how bad he would be. i held my fire, based on his small role in the star trek reboot, that he might surprise everyone.
2) based on the trailers, however, he's atrocious.
3) i've been able to read exactly one page of an alex cross novel. based on that experience alone, i am confident in pronouncing them to be dreck of the lowest order. worse than writing i have never willingly subjected myself to.
4) while "kiss the girls" was at least somewhat watchable (as freeman almost always is), without someone around to elevate the material, anything penned by patterson is going to be awful. obviously, perry is not the one to do it. no surprise really.
