There\&#039;s a mid section monologue where Depardieu\&#039;s character speaks of the idealism and belief in man kind he started out with and the crashing disillusionment when he reached a position of power only to realise there was nothing anyone could do to protect humanity from itself, after that bleak understanding what else is left but indulgence in the material world before the unavoidable self destruct &#038; fall. ]]></description>
