The only thing that makes me suspect about this is the release date. World War II film in the summer? Blockbuster season? I can\’t remember the last World War II film that killed it in the summer. Saving Private Ryan? Funny thing is Nolan\’s release date for this is the same week as Private Ryan came out. Like two weeks after the fourth of July.

"Panoramic" doesn\’t necessarily have anything to do with it. The Master was roughly 1.85:1, whereas all of Paul Thomas Anderson\’s non-70mm films were in the wider 2.35:1 ratio.

IMAX 70mm is not compatible with the type of 70mm projectors used for The Hateful Eight. Fortunately, there are still IMAX 15/70 projectors still in use.
