Either way, they choose to stick to being located at a distance from the truth by sticking to their beliefs instead.

For them, beliefs come first in their decision making, NOT truths.

Thus if true evidence is presented in the here and now rather than from a distance, it is immediately rejected by believers since beliefs can only be practiced if one is at a distance from the truths in the first place.
