74' and 80' is on demand on comcast. Just watched 74' but thought the plot was excrutiatingly cliche and predictable. Loved Garfield, loved the cinematography, but the plot is shite. It's pretty much a huge DUH.

I'm just insanely jealous that you got to see this … though the book goes wildly off the rails in the last 20 pages or so, it's still a sensational read, almost as good as Peace's "Damned United" (my favorite book of the last five years or so) … This will probably have to be a DVD watch in my remote little corner of the world, but I can't wait to see it

The first part, set in 1974, is in no way shape or form based on the Yorkshire Ripper case.

The second part is and not that loosely either.

They do a great job of playing the case in the background while by creating a story that is no tied or pulled down to the facts of the case. Which is probably the downfall of movies like Zodiac, you kind of know where it's going to end.
