Good review. I lol a little at Coven/Salem being the truly *italics* American horror story. As a Brit, I can't help noting that witch hunts/trials/drownings and burnings and every insane thing in between was a British and European hobby that the pigrims took with em across the Atlantic. Now Voodoo, on the other hand...

Farmiga and Peters' scene was the only good part of this episode, and this is coming from someone who wasn't a massive fan of the tate and violet thing in season 1. Hard to deny they have such good chemistry.

I get the Harry Potter vibe....Fiona even mentions that she's taking the girls out of 'Hogwarts' for their field trip/walk. Some of the scenes were just hard to watch (the torture, Madison's rape) but I got a some satisfaction watching the revenge for both.

I like the way it's being set up for the whole season. What will Fiona do with LaLaurie and why did she open up the coffin anyway? Curiosity or some bigger female empowerment move...LOL

I don't get why people are so enamored with this opening episode. Maybe AHS starts to change the story a bit going forward but so far it "borrows" sooo much from the Harry potter story lines its takes me out of it all.
I mean, a child with powers is whisked away to a school for "gifted" children to learn to be witches. Also when I say whisked away I mean taken there by a train... Then they get to school and shes immediately picked on by the blond haired bully. Even the Jeeves character looks like Mr Filch in a fancy suit. So the all powerful Wizard... er, I mean Witch, of their time then takes the students under her wing and low and behold we come to find out there's a lord / queen of evil that is waging a magical war, so to speak, against other witches over a feud that began before our main character was born.
I think Ive seen enough to go ahead and call how this season will end. SPOILER ALERT: our main character finds out shes the all powerful witch of her generation, which will eventually lead to her changing the tide of the Witch War after Snape kills Dumbeldore... oops, I mean when Cordelia takes care of Fiona.

Why aren't people seeing this? I don't see anywhere online where anyone is calling out the AHS crew. It cant be just me that sees the unoriginal approach to this season so far right?
