I agree with you 10000%. Sorkin\’s reputation is inflated. He can certainly write compelling material but none of it is innovative. Search "Sorkinisms" on Youtube and you\’ll see what I mean. He does not know how to give women agency on their own. Unfortunately, this finale was neither compelling nor innovative and it certainly didn\’t give any woman any agency. Thanks for your thoughts!

Pro Tip: When a screenwriter has atrociously unlikeable characters talk about how a [movie/song/artist] sucks, it\’s simply a way of showing what an unlikeable asshole that character really is. Also, that opinion is usually the opposite of how the writer truly feels about said [movie/song/artist].

I disagree with you 100%. Here\’s what I think, for starters, complete haters like yourself shouldn\’t be able to write articles. You don\’t like it, so all you will do is bash it, which makes YOU one-dimensional. Finally, what would you prefer? a sequel? A
Remake? Or perhaps a series based on a comic book, or another crime drama? The Newsroom was an original, brilliantly written, well cast show that is best thing I have sat down to watch in a long time. In closing just remember, Aaron Sorkin and the cast are laughing all the way to the bank.

And now that you have skewered this series and Aaron Sorkin, let us examine Kevin Jagernauth\’s skills and career.

He\’\’s a nothing, a no one, a failure. But that\’s not enough since he needs to take down someone who\’s ability and talent he cannot even dream to have.

If you don\’t like the show, don\’t watch it. It\’s a TV show godamnit.

And, by the way, fatherhood is worth the hype and then some. Know what you\’re talking about.

I love the series and it is a shame that it was cancelled. I like the ending too. I totally disagree with this so called TV critic. Nothing wrong with the ending, it gives hope that things on the news are going to get better because of all the changes and maybe in the future, this series will be retaken from where it was left. That would be awesome.

I have watched every single episode of this show and loved them all with the exception of this last one. There wasn\’t a single thing about it that felt genuine or connected to any of the previous shows. I saw here thinking, is this really happening, the music scene?! What was that? I\’m ALL for sentimentality, but this just lacked so much authenticity. So sad it ended like this, but I guess maybe it\’s better since I won\’t miss it.

I was actually very moved by the garage scene, sentimental as it was. it was credible and plausible. Like many reviewers of this series, I am struck by how little Mr. Jagernauth seems to understand the subject and state of affairs of television news and journalism in general.
The garage jam scene was wonderful, sentimental or not. The writer\’s review reveals a pack mentality bent of despising Sorkin, for reasons I do not understand. This was a television series and one of the best I ever watched and I will remember it for a long time. This review which has had a total of 5 responses will be forgotten in 10 seconds.

This episode was tough to watch for me personally. I think it ultimately suffered from a six episode season. The plot, relationships, and eventually finale simply could not be fully realized to a extent that would have been able to become much more than what it ended up being.

Newsroom was a true life show, the actors were absolutely amazing! Is their nothing Jeff can\’t do? My husband and I loved loved the musical part, we have played it back at least 6 times, my hats off Mr Sorkin! Please please bring this show back on! To all you haters..don\’t watch it! You actually sound like you\’re trying to emulate Sorkin\’s style in your critique, which just made me laugh. You know what\’s bad journalism? What you just did. This is a one-sided, \’aren\’t-I-different-and-clever\’ takedown of Sorkin\’s work. I get it, you\’re a critic and this is a blog, not a news story, but seriously, you come off as bitter and raging. Your tirade is balanced on thin ice with nothing to back it up. Picking apart Sorkin\’s drawing of female characters is beyond tired and old. This is a show. It has to draw viewers and have a dramatic storyline. Having MacKenzie be promoted because she\’s good at her job? So boring to watch. Having Don and Sloan be just plain old friends with no sparring? So dull. You forget that MacKenzie was hired at ACN because of her brilliance and dedication to the news. You fail to note that Sloan – a woman! – is absurdly intelligent. Instead, you choose to focus on only one side of these characters – the side that suits you. That is bad journalism and then some. I find your critique to be so scathing it cannot be taken seriously.

I agree with everyone here, WTF do you know….? Who are you to judge like that???? This was one of the most intelligent and interesting shows in the bunch of shows who are twisted and are boring. You may not love Aron Sorkin\’s work, but this was and still one of the best shows to date….period 😉
