Take the "can't write strong women" complaint. Are they kidding. Year after year there's no women's roles worth nominating for Oscars. TV and movies today about men acting like jerks and proud of it. Women are strong alright. They put up with these cretins. Sorkin women are allowed to be just as foolish, vain, and human as the men.

Liberal? I don't think that word means what you think it means. American liberalism is bleading heart, paternalistic, and wimpy ("weak kneed"). The last such liberals were Hubert Humphrey and Walter Mondale. Today, we call anyone a liberal who is not a tea party reactionary know-nothing. Anyone who believes in science or supports Planned Parenthood.

Too preachy? In an age where demographics are sliced and diced to please all viewers and give everyone exactly what they expected to see, how dare they critique the only fiction that displays any values and concern anything that matters? Somebody might be offended, or think, or see intelligent characters utter smart dialog. Sure beats fantasy, sci-fi apocalypse, animation, heists, buddy action, vampires, zombies, and endless sequels.
