The scene where Louie enters the receptionist area is shot exactly like a David Lynch film. The slightly aerial wide shot, the deep red carpet and the uncomfortable close ups on the receptionist and Louie during their exchange. So much so that I thought that Louie was going out of his way to directly homage him and then he appeared in the next scene. My mind was blown.
