I have to agree with most people's assessment of this utterly worthless piece of writing. If this writer's analytical skills only go as deep as recording what he hears and sees on the screen without thinking any further beyond what seems immediately apparent I think I'll be steering well clear of his writing in the future.

I'm stunned that you didn't fully understand the relevance of the phone call from Walt to Skyler. I don't think it takes any sort of masterful analytical skills to see that he was doing that for the sole purpose of clearing Skyler of all his crimes. He knew the police were listening, he knew that he had to save his family in some way, and he knew that this was his only way of making the only apology that he possibly could.

One of the best episodes of Breaking Bad? I honestly can't recall a better single hour of television that I've ever seen!!!!!! (A++++++)

Just recently, Entertainment Weekly issued a list of the Top 100 best TV shows of all time. I believe Breaking Bad was somewhere around #9. After last night's episode and these final two to go, I think it makes a very strong case for #1. I've just never seen a better written and emotional show in my entire life. Amazing!

Any reviewer who doesn't get the significance of that phone call probably doesn't deserve to be read anymore.

Also, the teaser at the end of the show seemed to indicate that Walt reappears because his family is threatened, likely because Todd isn't able to replicate the blue meth and Walt hasn't fulfilled his end of the bargain.

if anything the call and threat on Skylar would get her into witness protection and away from any repercussions from Uncle Jack. I think that and taking the blame from her are the real reasons for the call and what he says.

"To Walt, it's a betrayal and he storms out...grabbing Holly out of her playpen"
"He then proceeds to read her the riot act, shockingly calling her a "bitch," excoriating her for second guessing him, worrying about his drug trade and never understanding everything he did was for family. "

It was all part of the plan - a plan he comes up with the moment he sees his family's fear at who he really is. No matter what Walt says, he has never been doing all this 100% for his family.

But now? Now he finally does something just for them, hanging himself in the process. The call back to Skylar allows them to find out where he was, so where the baby would be, and he completely removes all blame from Skylar.

The last act perhaps of the final parts that remain of Walter White.
Now all that is left is Heisenberg, on the run from the law... But when he finds out Jesse is still alive, that someone is cooking 'his' blue meth and the constant aggravation at losing that $70million?

Revenge may just trump redemption.
