What a terrible way of looking at it. If you want to watch a show that's all blood, guts and explosions, then go watch some other BS. This show is all about taking it slow, studying characters, cinematography and suspense. Things don't "happen" at every moment and that's how it should be. The Sopranos was like that too. As far as I'm concerned, "something big" has happened in every episode which has made it completely satisfying and made me want to see the next. It's not about what it's building to in the end, it's about the journey. It's also about the cultural references to early 20th century America and to it's attitudes and surroundings. For these reason's this show is the best on TV at the moment. It doesn't drag in the slightest.

Apparently not every HBO show can get a pass on thePlaylist like GIRLS does huh?

I don't see where this idling view comes from. Season 3 is shaping up to be excellent & I frankly do not moan the loss of Jimmy Darmody. Episode 4 was fantastic & in particular everything to do with Capone & Tabor Heights was wonderful.

Couldn't disagree more about the pace or direction of the show. Also, you refer to Mickey Doyle as shrewd in one sentence and dimwitted in the next. Huh?

wow, a little subtlety gets you no love these days, eh? I don't think they were idling away the time in the cellar at all. It was meant to show just how much Nucky has changed since, oh, i don't know, almost being murdered twice in the last year, once by apparent show saviour and only reason for watching Jimmy Darmody, and once by his own brother Eli. It's prohibition. Things moved slow. The only thread I see as draaaagging, is Margaret's. Some of those scenes are painful to watch, admittedly. But the Nucky stuff, the capone stuff, the Rosetti stuff, it's all good. Watch it for the performances. Watch it for the cinematography, the setting, the staging. Just watch it.
