Legend and Common were the best!? You guys were manipulated and played. That speech reeked of "I\’ve practiced this in the mirror because I\’m going to win". Redmayne was the best, and I didn\’t even see his movie.

Seriously, Eddie Redmayne\’s speech was one of the loveliest, sweetest things I\’ve ever seen in awards show. I can\’t remember anyone so incredibly happy to get an Oscar (maybe Marion Cotillard). I thought JK\’s was the worst in his awards run (although I love how much he adores his wife, so sweet), and Julianne\’s was good but unremarkable. Eddie\’s and Patricia\’s, and Pawel Pawlikowski\’s and Common/Legends\’s were my favourites.

I fast forwarded through the Common/Legend speech. Graham Moore\’s speech was pretty cringe-worthy. Julianne Moore was the only genuine thing at the Oscars this year.

I must not be looking in the right places, but there appears to be a silent treatment being given to Citizenfour on many sites, including national TV. It is very validating that the Academy had the moral courage to recognize Snowden\’s role in the protection of democracy.

Okay, third time commenting on your Oscar coverage and I\’m beginning to wonder if you actually watched the show. The Common/John Legend speech was such a load of politically and socially myopic crap. Julianne Moore and Patricia Arquette both felt dry and scripted, while Eddie Redmayne was the epitome of heartfelt and utterly adorable (and I am a straight male).

Oh come on. I was fine with what Common said, but John Legend? Really? What does the number of incarcerated black males have to do with injustice in the US? If they are incarcerated, that means they were found guilty of a crime which means there was a victim to that crime and I always thought somebody getting convicted of a crime meant justice was served? I was just waiting for him to name drop Michael Brown or Eric Garner, but in actuality their encounter with police would be considered more of an injustice than what would\’ve happened if they weren\’t killed while being taken into custody. Both men had committed crimes. With Michael Brown, he had just robbed a conveinence store and assaulted the clerk, and with Eric Garner, he was illegally selling untaxed cigarettes. So Legend is saying if they were taken alive and stood trial for their crimes and were found guilty by a judge or jury and were sentenced to jail time, that would be injustice because they are black? WTF
