Judging by this list – and really her career thus far – it\’s clear that McAdams is a good to great actress but works with incredibly lousy directors and/or scripts. Aloha and To The Wonder were always going to be hit or miss – Crowe hasn\’t made a not terrible film since Almost Famous and Malick\’s last masterpiece was The Tree of Life but he\’s a divisive auteur so I\’ll let that one go. But the rest of her work? Good performances in not good films. I want to see her in a Benett Miller film or even Rian Johnson. She really should be a bigger star than she is.

Entirely absent from this list is her out-of-this-world performance in Brian DePalma\’s Passion. The movie\’s pretty hated (I actually like it for what it is) but Rachel is everything in it!

I agree with Tommy Jones. And so many other actresses are so much more talented than her. Think Marion Cotillard,Rooney Mara, Cate Blanchett, Emma Stone, Lea Seydoux etc… they are way more subtle and interesting.
