I dunno, zxcvb, I can kind of see what he means in this case. He certainly wasn\'t trying to emulate Bresson in terms of acting or anything like that, but looking at Bresson\'s \"action\" sequences in Pickpocket and A Man Escaped I can Kind of see a little similarity with certain sequences in Hanna. It\'s not trying to be a direct homage or anything, but the emotionless faces and focusing entirely on subtle body movements and hands and stuff, and editing so that we only see exactly what he wants us to . . . there\'s a little of that in Hanna. I certainly wouldn\'t presume to say he\'s lying here. If that\'s one of the movies he watched before doing this, I can believe it.

No, Bresson is not an influence -- he\'s a great filmmaker that\'s been turned into a buzzword for any critic or pseudo-artist hack trying to look smart.

Look at Wright\'s work. Bresson would vomit at the show-offy, un-cinematographic (in Bresson\'s sense) beach tracking shot in Atonement. Pedro Costa, the Dardennes, Kaurismaki can claim influence. Even Kelly Reichardt, perhaps. But Joe Wright? Please. Maybe Kevin Smith can say Resnais influenced him.

Very excited to see Hannah and it\'s very cool that Wright is stretching as an artist to try new and frightening things, instead of playing it safe in the literary adaptation world.
