Since that\’s likely never, ever going to happen – who said bringing in Frank Castle requires showers of gore and entrails everywhere? Are you intentionally glossing over the fact that until the 2000s, The Punisher was tame when it came to the comics? So tame in fact that the intention with the Lundgren film was to show that it could be grittier/etc. But that backfired tremendously and what they ended up with is a film too steeped in the 80s action era for its own good and a character that didn\’t see a rejuvenation until Marvel decided to take notice of the "mature" crowd. The character is one of few, especially within the confines of Marvel, that walks both sides of the line – he can be right at home in cartoon-ish ultra-violent chaotic situations (the type of thing War Zone was built around) or he could be the First Blood type (the full length Thomas Jane film). Since they\’ve already created the basics for Daredevil, the second option seems like it fits more into the world they\’ve built.
