Sure. Blame Showtime. The fact that Dexter didn't die isn't what made the last season (and the three before it) awful, the crappy writing is what made it awful. Dexter died after Season 4.

If that's true then I blame the Showtime execs for the whole season. If Dexter had died at the end the rest of the season would have probably been much different and much better. Just another example of how producers can crush good ideas…

It's the last episode, why would anyone be pissed off if Dexter dies? Would that hurt the DVD/Bluray -sales? I don't understand that logic at all.

I assume the Showtime execs wanted to include Brody's family on Homeland season 3, even though they aren't important to the main plot anymore.
