Why no mention of Mel Gibson\’s WWII epic Hacksaw Ridge with a very strong cast. No mention at all, but a strong contender for Best Picture.

I noticed somebody in the comments section talking about a "tight race". It\’s only March, and yet people think they\’ve got the Oscar race figured out already. One of my big issues with film is how certain people cannot look at a film without linking it to awards. Why can\’t we just watch movies and only start discussing the Oscars when the time comes. This is why some movies turn out to be disappointments. People rave about how they look awards-worthy in the trailers, and then are disappointed when they are not. Movies are movies, just enjoy them for what they are.

"Silence" and "Billy Lynn\’s Long Halftime Walk" are my two most anticipated. And if they live up to the expectations behind their respective filmmakers and casts, I think they\’ll be duking it out at the Oscars.

Hopefully it\’s gonna be a fantastic year for us. Ang Lee, Martin Scorsese, Damien Chandelle, blockbusters like Suicide Squad and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. And the first \’Nina\’ poster it was unveiled today. Zoe Saldana stars in it and it has a April release, but we never know… It\’ll be interesting to see how many of the movies we are predicting right now to be nominated will really get Oscar nods.

I\’ve seen one of these movies pictured, from an A list director, which hasn\’t been screened at any festivals yet, and it\’s an absolute disaster, the worst thing I\’ve seen in years. It\’ll be interesting to see how the list changes over the year.

It\’ll be interesting to see what happens with Mel Gibson\’s return to directing for Hacksaw Ridge with Andrew Garfield. The source material sounds like oscar bait. Additionally Oliver Stone\’s Snowden could fare well.

I know he hasn\’t been relevant since the 1990s, but Oliver, you left out Oliver Platt\’s \’Snowden,\’ which is looking to be his return to glory. I predict Snowden, Beasts, Billy Lynn, Silence, and The Founder as the five frontrunners.
