Read the Sea of Trees script. If Van Sant delivers, I\’m sure both McConaughey and Watanabe will and become locks. McConaughey works really well with male co-stars (Leto, Harrelson) and he and Ken could be incredible. A real emotional powerhouse.

Leonardo DiCaprio – The Revenant
Michael Fassbender – Steve Jobs/ Cianfrance\’s Film/ Macbeth
Matthew McConaughey – Sea of Trees
Tom Hanks – Bridge of Spies
Johnny Depp – Black Mass

I read an early draft of The Revenant and Sea of Trees. I loved Sea of Trees. It can be amazing I don\’t know if Van Sant is that director for this type of moody film. I have the other two scripts I have yet to read them. I don\’t have the spielberg one though. Can\’t wait to get my hands on that.

Did I miss your mention of Idris Elba in Beasts of No Nation? Because if I am correct in assuming you didn\’t include it I think that is a snub in your list. You seriously mentioned almost every other male star of every upcoming film. Anyway, my pre-mature predictions (and I know, I made a fuss about Idris Elba not being mentioned and I don\’t include him in my nominees, but I think he will be close on the outside. I just thought he should have been somewhere on your picks):

Well since this is really about Best Actor I\’ll do my first prediction here.

1)Eddie Redmayne – The Danish Girl
2)Leonardo DiCaprio – The Revenant
3)Matthew McConaughey – Sea of Trees
4)Jake Gyllenhaal – Southpaw
5)Michael Caine – The Early Years

So, I decided to go with who looks to already be the heavyweight with Redmayne in Danish Girl as my first choice. Then, I went with DiCaprio because I feel he will be great, and with Gonzalez behind this, and the wierd way he is making the film, I feel it\’s very likely. Then, I went with critical heavy weight McConaughey because he is just simply amazing and didn\’t have anything this past year even though he was great in Interstellar. Then, I decided to take a risk and go with Gyllenhaal for Southpaw. He got snubbed last year and they won\’t do it again. They could go with the other movie, but I\’m gonna go with the classic boxing genre nomination with a great physical transformation. And for my last choice I chose Michael Caine in the early years cause he is straight up a legend and has been amazing in supporting roles as of late; speciffically is all nof Christophor Nolan\’s films. So, as a reward for his great career, all those fantastic supporting turns, and what is prob gonna be a great performance I say he might get the nomination nod.

Pretty sure Chris Kyle>Lou Bloom shot down that bulk up/down premise. The amusing thing here is British ~aristocrat skillfully emulating feminine poise, in the running against potentially an American counterpart sort of "at last" living up to ideals of American masculinity onscreen (!)
