Totally agree JT, MR T and FM. Eyes Wide Shut is misunderstood and deserves more credit. The public perception of TC and NK probably had a lot to do with attitudes to the film. RD

movie critics dug themselves a whole in that one, JT. for a years before it came out, the film was touted as the sexiest movie ever by them and then when they saw it and saw that it was not and never intended to be such, they tried to dig themselves out of that particular rut by claiming the film was an erotic failure.

I\’ve never understood why writers always bring up the Eyes Wide Shut orgy sequence as if it was trying to be erotic but failed and is therefore laughable. The scene is intentionally un-erotic and weird. It was never supposed to be a turn on. So much more interesting than an erotic orgy scene.
