‘Poor Things,’ ‘Past Lives,’ ‘The Bear’ Among 2024 ACE Awards nominees

The Oscar nominations may have been revealed, but thre are still guild award nominations to announce. This morning, the American CInema Editors revealed the nominees for the 74th Annual Eddie Awards celebrating the best in film and television editing. There were few surprises with the five Oscar nominees for Best Editing, with “The Holdovers,” “Poor Things,” “Oppenheimer,” “Anatomy of a Fall,” and “Killers of the Flower Moon” all earning ACE noms across two different categories.

On the television side, Emmy Award-winner “The Bear” earned two separate nominations in the Best Single-Camera series category alongside “Barry,” “Only Murders in the Building” and the finale of “Ted Lasso.” Another departing series, “Succession,” also earned two nods in the Best Edited Drama Series along with “Ahsoka,” “Slow Horses,” and “The Last of Us.” “Fargo” and “Beef” earned two nods each in the Limited Series category alongside “Lessons in Chemistry.”

The guild also revealed that drag queen NIna West, best known for appearing on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 11 and “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” will be the host of this year’s ceremony. John Waters was previously announced as the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, recognizing a filmmaker who exemplifies distinguished achievement in the art and business of film. film editors Kate Amend, ACE and Walter Murch, ACE will receive Career Achievement Awards for their “outstanding contributions to film editing.” Stephen Lovejoy, ACE will receive the Heritage Award for his “unwavering commitment to ACE.”

The 2024 ACE Awards will be handed out on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at UCLA’s Royce Hall during a rare daytime “brunch” celebration.
