He raped a 13 year old girl and should be punished. Deduct the 45 days he spent being evaluated from the sentence he receives. He should also receive some time for "escaping". He may have had a tragic life but that doesn't make it okay for him to rape a 13 year old girl. It sounds to me like the "injustice" he received was that the judge allowed him to plead guilty to statutory rape because of his celebrity status and then changed his mind and was going to treat him like any other rapist would be treated.

Regardless of how he was convicted or what the accusations are against the Prosecutor, the fact remains that Polanski pled guilty to having sexual intercourse with a 13 year old child. He is a fugative and should be treated as such.
