I found it very interesting that the male reviewers did not see the emotional narrative as worthy, and the female did. On the other hand, both males loved Captain Phillips and identified totally with the emotional content there. Gender seems to be playing a big part here. I'd also love to know whether the males have children; I'm betting that the female reviewer does. This was far from emotionless or shallow for me, speaking as one who has children.

I wanted to learn something about the film from this podcast but really didn't – more like some dudes shooting the breeze – and over-estimating the interest in their opinions (?). Details matter – Gravity was not shot on film for instance. Sorry but you asked for opinions.
