I too am shocked that the LUNA doc TELL ME DO YOU MISS ME is not on this list. It is much much better than that posed WIlco doc. Have you even seen TELL ME DO YOU MISS ME?

Strong Enough to Break – about Hanson's drawn out release of their album Underneath because of an uncooperative label. Ashley Grayson directed. Very good. Just released on DVD recently and was released in episodes in podcast form on iTunes.

Yeah, man, all those mainstream bands. Top 40 mainstays like Daniel Johnson and The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Also, mainstream? Who cares, honestly? You bet that Lady Gaga would be a better documentary subject than Grizzly Bear.

ok.i dont see many docus but this one's loaded with mainstream music docus.meh-tallica getting a mention makes me wanna puke.the band is a sell out.i respected your music taste because you appreciated indie.but this list is epic phail.

Um…"You May Need a Murderer", the documentary about Low, is one of the most harrowing music documentaries I've ever seen. Along with Nick Drake's "A Skin To Few".

I am Trying to Break Your Heart + the Joe Strummer doc = overrated. I love Wilco and the Clash, but neither documentary was that great (Wilco's was better, you're right). I did enjoy some of the music scenes in IATTBYH, but it felt not as deep as it could have been, whereas Strummer's doc was totally messy.

That Wilco doc was so obviously staged/conspired. Jeff Tweedy and Sam Jones loaded film in a camera after it was decided that Jay Bennett would be ousted. It's unbelievable that people actually regard it as anything but a vanity montage.

"Future is Unwritten", good pick, best on the list for me. As you rightly point out it paints a full portrait of the man, good and bad and I think that Joe Strummer had some very human failings that he was big enough to acknowledge later in life.

just could do without the Bono interviews in it though. that guy crops up in just about every music documentary of the last ten years, as though someone else's greatness will rub off on him if he talks about them.

"New York Doll" is amazing. One of my favorite films. Some good picks–the two Dylan films (especially Scorsese's, in my opinion) are great #1 picks.
