I have been a big fan of pulling Joe Pesci out of retirement and giving him the role. Been saying this for literally years now and been advocating my idea everywhere I can. He’d put the fear and the crimelord mastermind into Penguin that the character deserves and be no nonsense with the role. Pesci’s version of the character and Gad’s is a distant first and second choice simply because of who Pesci is.

Doubt he could do it? Go see Goodfellas if you haven’t and see just how intimidating that mug can be. That’s a villain and an actor that Gotham deserves.

Gad is such an unappealing choice… happy he wowed the Broadway set a decade or so ago and he might look fine in the costume, but he is such an unlikable presence is every film or TV show I’ve stumbled across with him in it. And Gad ain’t puttin butts in seats, so why not go ahead and give it to Toby Jones or Timothy Spall… might make it into something interesting and bring back some Nolan era respectability. Jonah Hill might turn some heads and he has some chops when he wants em. Hell, Reeves has worked with Jason Clarke, John Goodman, Andy Serkis… anyone but f-in Gad.
