"Blood" came out in the UK on a Second Run DVD last Monday, just in time for that Tate retrospective.

I was in Porto a few months back and went into Fnac looking for some Costa on dvd. Nothing. Nada. Not a thing. Though they did have some American stuff that isn't available anywhere else ("Drive, He Said"?).

Underappreciated even in Portugal. Go figure.

I think there's a UK DVD of "Blood" out there. I remember reading that somewhere, but it's one of the few I haven't seen of his.

I actually quite like "House of Lava," which is never really talked about despite the fact that it features Isaach de Bankole and the great Edith Scob.

Surely you'd agree that this set is worth getting excited about though.

According to their latest catalogue, theres a forthcoming Masters of Cinema release of "Colossal Youth", too. Not quite a Criterion box, but MoC releases are generally superb and it should be a nice package.

Oh, and that Guardian journo is Peter Bradshaw, I think, not Shaw..
