How do you come up with bullshit like that? No film was the clear favorite, 120/ Loveless/ The Square/ the Ramsay were all considered as possibilities for the Palm, so The Square winning is hardly a shocking surprise.

I would agree with your premise. I actually want to hear a more definite answer from Almodóvar, who so far appears to be withholding a biased disposition that Campillo’s movie was deserved the top prize because its portrayal of homosexuals makes it more important to himself personally.

In which, who needs a jury’s vote when what you’re really looking for are cheerleaders. I don’t know, and Almodóvar so far hasn’t said enough, but that’s the kind of “virtue signaling” that I’m picking up.

That’s what I want to say but, of course, we all that wouldn’t be politically correct!

Absolute nonsense‘s. All the favorites received prizes, except Todd Haynes and Safdie’s brothers – that is the biggest upset, definitely not fact that gay filmmaker failed to convince his fellow jury members to give top prize to the gay picture, which half the jury and half the screen jury really didn’t like.
