So currently I'm expecting dashes of Altman, Rivette and Downey Sr. in this movie. It'll be a wonderful mess, like the best PTA films are.

Of course TIFF chases stars, but for the most part, this was not a significant part of Telluride's personality apart from the tributes until recently. Both fests are run by well-meaning and discerning people. I don't think either is a villain in this, and I'm hoping that several films (not subject to NYFF's implicit requirement on their 3 galas) find their way to both festivals.

I think the more accurate comparison would be TIFF as Macy's (or The Bay for locals) and TFF as Tiffany's. TFF is a great fest but it's not a humble mom and pop. Also NYFF doesn't appear to be letting TFF preview its big three galas either. Finally, Punch Drunk Love played TIFF before NYFF, FYI
