I have a hard time picking a fav PTA movie but TWBB is a towering achievement, Magnolia a mosaic masterpiece, PDL an alien but touching take on romance and Boogie Nights is the oddball brotherly love film. I feel the Master weaves all these elements together so wonderfully and definitely vies for his best!

I agree! It’s big, it’s fun and messy but it all comes to a head with that Robards monologue and that singing finale! I equate it to a band who may have fine tuned their songwriting craft and nuances but that early work breathes with a fire and passion that only a young, naive mind could muster!

I love all of his most recent stuff but I still feel like that’s his best movie. Everything about that film is so beautiful and alive. In only the best ways, it’s the type of movie that can only be made by a young director.
