Geez! I read the article by Kevin Jagernauth that Mr. Lyttelton linked to under "been in the works for a while", and I guess he took lessons from Mr. Jagernauth on how to be a terrible journalist. (Well, he's still got a lot to learn, because that Jagernauth article was *really* bad.) I know this is a "blog", but it's made out to be a pretty website about film, so don't hide behind that bull. A writer can get away with a few jokes in an article if they're based on noticeably common public opinion. But those jokes need to be worded in such a way that they come off as such, and not simply the arrogant opinion of the writer. The writer can also make his own opinion known, no matter how strong it may be, but it has to be framed as such. And it should never come off in such a harsh, demeaning or condescending manner that it leaves the reader feeling taken aback. This article sounds like a U.S. political attack ad against Brett Ratner. (The linked article I mentioned earlier seemed to attack everything within a five-mile radius.) Since this is a comment and not an article, I'm going to be pretty harsh in my next statement. Mr. Lyttelton, you are a damn hack, and if I had the power I'd strip you of the right to write anything to do with film again, online or off.
