Why would Mara be in lead in place of Blanchett when putting Blanchett in supporting is also category fraud? Bigger actually. That makes no sense. And are you knew to awards season or what? Cannes doesn\’t have a support actress category, the award both supporting and lead performances for the best actress award. Winning it does not at all indicate you\’ll have more of a chance at the Oscars or that you\’ll be in the lead category. Weinstein has Mara is supporting because she has a much better chance there and to avoid internal competition in lead.

So are they pushing Joy back because Lawrence doesn\’t want to promote the movie or because she doesn\’t want to campaign. I find that to be kind of a weak reason to push a movie back and that she could still promote the movie without having to campaign for anything.

You look ridiculous mentioning Kristen Stewart in this mix. It\’s amazing what that Cesar will do–keep getting her mentioned in places where she has no business. IFC will never spend a dime on a campaign for a film that flopped. They saw no return on investment and they didn\’t campaign for her Cesar, either, Chanel did that. No one is going to do it in the US, unless she funds her own campaign. The actresses in your "Also Around" section have a better chance than Stewart does of getting a nomination. First, you need to be likable and respected by the Academy, and she can win all the foreign awards in the world, it won\’t change the way they perceive her. They know the score.

Sorry but teh idea that a studio would torpedo an entire film, make it sit on the shelf for a year (the kiss of death? because Jennifer Lawrence allegedly does not want to campaign is bullocks. And she didn\’t campaign at all for American Hustle.

Am I the only one who thinks Josh Brolin outperformed Benicio in Sicario? Yeah, Benicio had the more interesting character, but Brolin played his role as a seasoned, no nonsense CIA operative to a believable tee. And he also did solid work in Everest as well.
