He is the most overrated director right now; with no distinctive style at all, all his films are just cheap copies of other better films. And like you said they might just be "purely enjoyable" but that doesn't make them original or particularly memorable. I highly doubt they will be films people will be talking about in 10 years. Just hype.

It was so perfect, I don't see how Joaquin Phoinex is not nominated for best actor. His performance was incredible. This was one of the greatest movies I have ever seen, it deserves best picture.

He gives a career best performance and if that wasn't enough- we know the Academy loves to reward actors for a body of work rather than singular performance (see Kate Winslet)… and out of all of the nominated actors, DiCaprio's resume is the most impressive.

It's impossible to know if McConaughey was in line for an Oscar nomination, because the Academy doesn't release statistics. And I've not heard one single word of criticism about Leto's acceptance speech. In fact, I seem to remember it was non-offensive in every way. So, please clarify.
