TWC have pulled Grace of Monaco from their Oscar schedule, and will release it in the Spring 2014 as more of a 'commercial prospect', so Roth and Langella are out.

Apparently it 'needs more time to be finished'. A bit like when an actor drops out of a movie because of 'scheduling difficulties'.

"Well my friend and I really liked it, but I didn't really talk with anybody else, and I'm not privy to their questionnaire answers, so I don't really know what the audience thought. It's a morose intense drama, so there wasn't any cheering or laughing out loud that I could gauge. They did applaud at the end - out of politeness or sincerity, I have no idea.

(...)

Fassbinder is okay, but he plays that general typical basic stoic everyguy that just finds himself in very extreme situations, so I didn't find his character all that interesting. Penelope Cruz is the love interest, so all she has to do is look pretty and loving and give Fassbinder someone to swoon and worry over. Brad Pitt has a little more fun, but all he's required to do is act cool and suave and cocky. Bardem and Diaz are the most colorful and eccentric (and fashionably extreme) characters, and they look like they're having a blast. I've seen two cuts of this film. The earlier cut had Diaz talking with a thick Hispanic accent, which I loved. She had her normal American accent in the later cut.

Rosie Perez has a very small role as a jaded convict, and I thought she was awesome in her limited screen time".

I'm so glad that A24 has already started a campaign for James Franco in "Spring Breakers," and don't presume that they only undertook this task for "more for fun than anything else" as they are a business and want success. In your opinion, its fun but Franco has a right to be there like everyone else and shouldn't be disregarded so easily.

Again, Franco's role as you clearly noted is rightfully deserving (whatever some people thought of the movie as a whole, I'm sensing this will become a cult classic for many years), so if Academy members are doing their jobs correctly then they should view his performance, even if it is just the "Look At My Shit" clip that should be enough.

In general your list is extremely impressive for the best supporting actor spot and it should be interesting to see, who actually makes it. Hopefully, Franco will be one of the surprises.
