The fact that Deakins lost on both Skyfall and Prisoners to heavily CG films Life of Pi and Gravity is a travesty. No one deserves a cinematography Oscar more than Deakins. There needs to be a separate CG related cinematography category.

Nobody shot L.A. at nighttime better than Newton Thomas Sigel for "Drive". Nightcrawler was merely good in comparison to the tone set by Sigel.

Dion Beebe is always awesome (and he has won for Memoirs of a Geisha). But Roger Deakins does indeed deserve an Oscar. My personal favorite has been Jeff Cronenweth, who excels again in David Fincher\’s "Gone Girl".

Not to be pernickety but the title of one of the film that earned Chivo an Oscar nomination was titled \’The New World\’ not \’A New World\’.

Robert Elswit didn\’t shoot "The Master." He was too busy shooting " The Bourne Legacy."
