Surely, you are not fit to comment on good films. Just stick with Transformers and Gone in 59 seconds (or was it 60?). You will do well. Leave comments and critique of art films to others.

Mike D’Angelo, The AV Club: C+

Variety also gave it a good review - and they do tend to lean more mainstream since they are an industry paper.

No, it's not pretentious. I don't even think hat the dictionary scene is pretentious. It doesn't have overtly beautiful cinematography, it doesn't reference Heidleberg, it doesn't have character names with meanings.

It just makes a Claire Denis movie seem really fast paced in comparison.

Hiya.

Seems I've got the be dissenting voice here, but myself and the few friends I saw it with at TIFF quite liked the movie.

We saw the 10:00 premiere, which was after a long day of seeing other films and so truthfully we couldn't enjoy it as much as we would have liked to...

But we thought it was quite interesting. Yes, it wasn't the most quickly paced film produced lately, but I would say it certainly doesn't deserve an F.

Oh my God. OK to be fair, after the movie you'll sort of realize the movie's themes. The world is changing, "Romania" is behind the "times," cops are there to arrest people and not to think about law and morality. Maybe the movie needed actors who could make the dialogue work.

But I saw this at TIFF at 9 in the morning and I didn't have an ice cappuccino. I wanted to kill myself.
