Oh, you\’ve got to be kidding me…did ANYONE in Hollywood read the book??? I was aghast that the Indiewire people said they weren\’t fans of the original movies. I saw the American trailer with the Led Zepellin song, (scenes flash on and off the screen to the beat of the music) and it told me nothing about the story or the plotline- it was a god-awful mess. And they\’ll probably make a mint off of it.
If Fincher doesn\’t get that Steig Larrson was a feminist, and the balance of male vs female sexual power in the books, then I think he\’s missed the boat entirely.

Lighten up world! It\’s just a movie…whether or not she\’s being objectified can\’t and won\’t be fixed because we live in America where it\’s perfectly legal to do so and it\’s Hollywood! Rooney Mara could stand there in a fucking paper bag and 007 in a fig leaf and it still wouldn\’t keep me from seeing it because I\’m a fan of the books, the director and the actress / actors involved!

I hate seeing women reduced to sex objects just as much as the next gay man and feminist (I\’m bi and for equal rights for all so shut it)….but we gotta lighten up y\’all! It\’s just a movie…..an epic one…. 🙂

To be clear the movie is about the sexual exploitation of women. Having the poster sexually exploit the female star of the movie to make money is kind of hypocritical.

@Christopher Bell: but Lisbeth Salander goes out of her way to NOT be sexy. She isolates herself from people with the punky look and piercings. She will have sex with you but won\’t stick around for hugs. Having her standing naked and being protected by a FULLY clothed MAN is just not her style. Besides SHE is the one who saves the man in the book.

Why isn\’t Daniel Craig naked too and flashing his peen? The poster looks like the standard movie with the weak female flashing her boobs to get 15 year old boys to see the movie while her male co-star stays in 3 layers of clothing. Disappointing but not unexpected coming from Fincher who doesn\’t get women. It\’s ironic that he is the one picked to direct what should be a feminist movie pointing out the subjugation, rape, torture, and killing of women. This poster just shows he didn\’t get what the book was about.

Run counter to the themes of the book? I was told that there\’s a shitload of banging and the second book opens with her getting a boob job, etc. The bad ass female protagonist still has to sexy, I guess.

Never read the books, never seen the movies, (going to have to now, dammit, thanks to Fincher) but with such a \”mysterious\” title they seem to completely ignore it most of the time…
