There are many things that could possibly go wrong with this adaptation, but Bateman's direction definitely isn't one of them.

The Family Fang is a terrific novel and one that has great potential as an adaptation. I think someone like Ang Lee or yes, even Baz Luhrmann, would be a better choice- it's equal parts dramatic and fantastical.
