Is the Danish Girl still happening?

I thought I read in Variety on December 30 that:

'In fact, 2009 might best be remembered as the year of the movies that never were. Studios and financiers pulled the plug on myriad high-profile pics, from big-budget tentpoles like Disney's "Captain Nemo: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" to indie sex-change drama "The Danish Girl," which was packaged as a Nicole Kidman-Gwyneth Paltrow-starring vehicle.'

I had some confidence with the project when Tomas Alfredson was directing it, but if Lasse Halstrom is directing, I am a bit weary. He hasn't made a good film since What's Eating Gilbert Grape? and most recently directed the travesty that is Dear John. I am sure they can do better....heck hire John Cameron Mitchell again!

This definitely seems like an 'image' makeover kind of project for Kidman.

She did hire Angelina Jolie's manager earlier this year so maybe this is the beginning of some major changes in her career.

What I think she really needs to do is seriously stop the botox and whatever else she keeps doing cause she's become a completely different person.

With The Stepford Wives, Bewitched, The Invasion, The Golden Compass, Australia, and Nine, she really clearly isn't connecting with audiences.

Like Nikki Finke, I have Aniston fatigue. Enough with the sh*tty rom coms, and enough with being in my face, PERIOD. GO. AWAY. Isn't there some other TV sit-com hacktress out there who wants to act opposite these male comedy stars? Why not Lisa Kudrow she's way more talented than Aniston anyway. Sometimes I hate Brad Pitt for making her relevant, even if it's tabloid relevant.

if she wants to shake up her image she should lay off the botox and start acting instead of breezing through 'prestige' films…it seems like she reached a level of fame and just stopped trying…her work Dead Calm is better than most of what she's done in the last 10 years.
