You shoot 60fps for slow motion shots. It\’s called "overcranking" (because when you slow it back down to 30/24 fps the result is…well…slowed motion)

Hahaha. Yeah that\’s the thing sometimes about bloggers and critics, they think they kniw filmmaking, when in fact they don\’t.

"Blah blah blah(insert dop\’s name) lush cinematography are gorgeus" even if a movie is heavily color graded, and the dop wasn\’t even at post because he\’s busy shooting another film.

back to the topic, higher framerate has been done before. the thing about the Hobbit was they planned to release it on higher framerate, which prompted them to change workflow, and do the whole movie in post with the high frame rate that they shot.

It more likely means that that particular shot is slow motion. 60fps is a pretty popular frame rate for subtle slow-mo.
