It’s easy to be cynical about Hollywood’s penchant for revivals and reboots, but "Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie" is brimming with such good spirit, it feels like a genuine reunion, rather than a calculated cash grab. And it looks like it’s going to be a big treat for fans of the cult U.K. comedy series.
Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley are back as Edina and Patsy, but this time around, they find themselves in major trouble, when they are accused of killing supermodel Kate Moss. And with appearances from Jon Hamm, Rebel Wilson, and more, this one looks like a fizzy diversion. Here’s the synopsis:
Appropriate for their big screen debut, Edina and Patsy (Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley) are still oozing glitz and glamour, living the high life they are accustomed to; shopping, drinking, and clubbing their way around London’s trendiest hotspots. Blamed for a major incident at an uber-fashionable launch party, they become entangled in a media storm and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi. Fleeing penniless to the glamorous playground of the super-rich, the French Riviera, they hatch a plan to make their escape permanent and live the high life forever more!
"Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie" opens on July 22nd.
