Ironic that it was supposed to come out today. Saw it last night in front of Paranormal Activity. It’s the same trailer except with 2010.

Anonymous: Read the novel. You'll get the answer, plus at least in that format it makes up for quite a good read. But I do agree that it's a pretty hard twist to transfer for film format, without making it to bland.

Having read the book, I asked a friend to try to guess the twist based on the first trailer and he got it first guess. Another case of reading the book first ruining the movie for me 🙁

I'll say this: the script had me at the edge of my seat (I hadn't read the book), it was excellent, moving like a shark and gripping and then the end/the reveal, ooh boy. What a disappointment. That shit mighta flown in the 80s, but…

I'm not really the kind of movie watcher to sit through the whole movie while trying to figure out the ending. I like to let it just come to me.

That being said, sometimes 'twists' are so obvious that you can't help but figure it out. Those are pretty disappointing. Here's to hoping that Shutter Island isn't in this category.

The trailer looks great and the cast is amazing. This could definitely have 'Silence of the Lambs'-like weight around Oscar time 2011. With 10 nominations up for grabs I wouldn't rule it out.

Though, I don't want to read too much about this twist you keep mentioning. I'll hold out until the movie opens.

It LOOKS very good, and depending on how Scorsese can deliver Lehanes story, the twist shouldn't feel all to weird. My hopes are still up for this one!
