I just love it that all of the lead characters look like they just stepped out of some western European, Arthurian legend. Even if you believe in the Biblical Tales, the folks were from what we call the Middle East today. But in reality they were an African People. Most African people or Middle Easterners for that matter don't look anything like Russell Crowe or Anthony Hopkins. The modern day "Jews" who returned to Israel from Europe in the 20th Century are not the same folks of the Bible. It's Elizabeth Taylor and Cleopatra all over again. The more things change the more they stay the same. Densel might have been a better choice than Crowe.

I'm a born-again Christian, and I love a good story. I'm intrigued by this... I dig a well-told tale. My only potential issue is even if you got strictly by the Bible, Noah is such a fantastical and compelling tale that there's no need to make stuff up that runs counter to the original story.

One thing that often gets overlooked in folks' understanding of Noah--is that Noah didn't buld the ark in a few weeks or a few months. It actually took him decades--he was relatively young when he started and fairly old when he finished--his sons were young when he started yet mature and married by time the arc was completed.

For me the notion of a single character dedicating a literal lifetime to a single endeavor in the face of ridicule and doubt is a pretty rich story. (All of Noah's neighbors, by all biblical accounts, thought Noah was a fool in every sense of the word and treated him as such until the rains came.)

This has the potential given the caliber of acting talent and production talent involved to be a pretty good movie. It may suck. It may end up mediocre. But I'm intrigued... I'll go into this with an open mind as I try to do with any movie...

Doesn't everyone get it? Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly et al were cast because they have "star power" and are more likely to bring people to the theater to watch this. Perhaps casting little knowns who look more Middle Eastern might have made it more authentic, but less likely to have gotten financing. Like others have noted, how does anyone know what Noah looked like?

Oh fuck Arronosky is going back to his Fountain visions. Someone please tell him that the Fountain was terrible and the Epic biblical thing probably isn't his forte. Thanks.

Also I echo the sentiments below. This is a pretty white cast for biblical time....scratch that not pretty white...really really white. Aye aye aye this is a train wreck waiting to happen.
