I'm sorry if I am misunderstanding, but do these actors need to have the same background as their characters or is not the message, portrayals and story most important? Does anyone here think Christian Bale is a yuppie serial killer, a crack addicted boxing trainer, a rotund, balding con man or best of all…Batman…in his real/personal life or history? These are all outstanding actors. I daresay it will be be worth it, if only for the performances.

Well, earlier this year we had the Biblical movie Noah, which co-starred Jennifer Connelly, whose mother is Jewish, and Logan Lerman, who is 100% Jewish. Yet no one seemed to care about their Jewishness vis-Ã -vis them playing those roles.
